Denso North America’s heavy-duty PVC/Bitumen fabric-reinforced tapes, Densopol 60 and 60HT, are designed to effectively protect buried or immersed pipes and fittings from corrosion. The many advantages of these long-lasting tapes makes them a top choice for underground and underwater pipe protection.
Excellent adhesion
Densopol 60 and 60HT are cold-applied, synthetic fabric-reinforcement tapes coated with rubber bitumen adhesive and backed with a PVC film. They can be applied by hand or machine to weld joints, bends, bare pipe lengths and pipe fittings, offering excellent adhesion, provided the surfaces have been properly cleaned (all loose scale, rust or other foreign matter removed). In addition, the surfaces must be dry and free of grease before application for the best adhesion results.
Superior resistance
The tapes have excellent resistance to cathodic disbonding, and provide good conformability and impact resistance.
Easy to apply
Densopol 60 and 60HT are known for their easy application. Users simply apply a thin film of Denso Primer D to all surfaces that require protection. Once dry, peel back interleaving and apply the adhesive side of the tape to the primed surface. Press down on the tape, applying it spirally with enough tension to make it conform, with a one-inch overlap at each turn to achieve double thickness. Be sure to remove interleaving as the wrapping proceeds.
