The Camille Bauer B 812 head mounted transmitter

Camille Bauer Metrawatt AG remains a major global manufacturer of industrial test and measurement instrumentation, and Mod-Tronic Instruments Ltd. is proud to supply these products in Canada. The selection includes several temperature transmitters and alarms – including the B 812 head mounted transmitter, with loop power supply, signal output, and HART communications.

Designed for intelligent and conventional two-wire transmitters, in housing P12/17 for rail mounting, the B 812 is designed for HART protocol.

Red LED for detecting faults

This head mounted transmitter from Mod-Tronic provides the DC power supply for two-wire transmitters and transfers the measured variable unaltered to the electrically insulated output. All models are built for FSK1 communication and are used in conjunction with “intelligent” two-wire transmitters, which are capable of dialogue and operation according to the FSK principle and the HART or user-specific protocol.

The B 812 series comes in versions with intrinsically safe input, which operate in conjunction with intrinsically safe two-wire transmitters located in hazardous areas. Provision is made for monitoring the measurement/supply to detect short and open circuits; the LED signals either of these faults.

The B 812 head mounted transmitter fulfills all of the important requirements and regulations regarding electromagnetic compatibility. Camille Bauer has developed, manufactured, and tested this instrument in strict compliance with the ISO 9001 quality standard. Other benefits, features, and specifications:

  • electrical insulation between input, output, and power supply;
  • AC/DC power supply;
  • green power on LED;
  • compact and narrow construction;
  • 3.6-kilovolt input, output, and power isolation;
  • supply voltage of 20-70 or 60-265 VAC/VDC (45-400 hertz for AC);
  • input of 4-20 mA or 18 to 25½ VDC, with a source resistance of 330 ohms; and
  • output of 4-20 mA or 17 VDC without load (permitted load of 750 ohms, or 550 ohms with HART).

This transmitter by Camille Bauer can operate in temperatures from -20 to 50 degrees Celsius, and users can store it in temperatures from -20 to 70 degrees Celsius. It weighs roughly 100 grams and has a terminal cross section from 0.14 to 2½ square millimetres.
