The GEN2tB transient recorder and data-acquisition (DAQ) system by HBM

Durham Instruments serves businesses across Canada with innovative industrial solutions by HBM Test and Measurement. For instance, the GEN2tB transient recorder and data-acquisition (DAQ) system is a compact, standalone distribution device that offers high-end features while remaining cost-effective for small channel counts, with merely two slots. The compact size makes the device the ideal option for portable and mobile tasks, and it can be mounted on a rack for an end-of-line test bench.

With free Perception standard software

A versatile unit that expands with user needs, this device can operate as a high-end transient recorder, an entry-level DAQ instrument, or both. The GEN2tB is most recommended for applications in which many channels must be distributed over a test area or around a large structure; this is because of the optical Master/Slave connection, which is immune to electrical noise.

The GEN2tB compact transient recorder and DAQ system comes with free Perception standard software, which users can install on as many computers as necessary to control every system and review acquired information. Selecting the appropriate input card allows companies to use this device for several versatile tasks. Among the many possible examples:

  • Material testing with strain gauges, IEPE sensors, or thermocouples, with a sample rate as high as 500 kilo-samples per second;
  • Recording voltages or vibrations with IEPE transducers, with up to 16 channels at the same time at up to two mega-samples per second;
  • Ultra-fast voltage or strain-gauge measurement, such as “Split-Hopkinson bar”; and
  • Using the system as a 12-channel power analyzer with real-time power computation and harmonic analysis.

Users can expand the GEN2tB system to up to 12 voltage (or current) channels, 16 high-speed sensor channels, or 24 channels that use fibre-optic digitizers or any combination of these. The rugged, lightweight construction makes it simple for users to transport the device with a carrying bag or belt, and an optional SSD drive is available.

This device works for tasks in a wide variety of sectors. Durham Instruments recommends the GEN2tB for use in the aerospace, automation, military, mining, power-generation, and transportation industries, among others.
