The GEN2tB transient recorder and data-acquisition system by HBM

Durham Instruments partners with HBM Test and Measurement to supply an amazing range of innovative products in Canada. An example is the GEN2tB transient recorder and data-acquisition (DAQ) system. A distributable, standalone DAQ device, this instrument provides high-end features while being cost-efficient for small channel counts, since it has two slots.

With its compact size, the GEN2tB is perfect for portable and mobile applications. Users can mount it on a rack for an end-of-line test bench.

Versatile instrument for many industries

The GEN2tB is a versatile instrument that grows with user needs, operating as a high-end transient recorder, an entry-level DAQ device, or both. Durham Instruments recommends this system for applications in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, education, the military, mining, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development. Users can expand it to up to 12 voltage (or current) channels, 16 high-speed sensor channels, or 24 channels that use fibre-optic digitizers or any mix of these.

HBM deems the GEN2tB suitable for applications in which numerous channels have to be distributed around a large structure or over a test area. This is due to the optical Master/Slave connection, which is immune to electrical noise. The device comes with free Perception standard software, which can be installed on as many computers as needed to control the system and review acquired data.

An organization can use this transient recorder and DAQ device for several versatile applications by selecting the right input card. Examples:

  • Material testing with strain gauges, IEPE sensors, or thermocouples, with a sample rate of up to 500 kilo-samples per second.
  • Recording voltages or vibrations with IEPE transducers, with as many as 16 channels at the same time at up to two mega-samples per second.
  • Ultra-fast voltage or strain-gauge measurements, like “Split-Hopkinson bar”.
  • Using the system as a 12-channel power analyzer, with real-time power computation and harmonic analysis.

With its lightweight, rugged construction, the GEN2tB is easy for users to transport with a carrying bag or belt, while the optional SSD drive allows use as a standalone data recorder.
