industrial strain gauges

The M Series offers a wide temperature range.

Durham Instruments enhances the abilities of many businesses with measurement devices manufactured by HBM Test and Measurement. This includes several series of industrial strain gauges, such as the M Series of foil strain gauges – which are used for stress analysis of materials with high fatigue strength, like fibre composites.

The M Series works for measurement tasks in numerous industries, as well as product development in aerospace and sporting goods.

Frequent repetition of measurements

One of the prime advantages of these industrial strain gauges is their very wide temperature range. These instruments enable frequent repetition of measurements, even in case of high strain, because of their excellent fatigue life. The operator can blend various geometries, resistance values, measuring grid lengths, and other properties to configure the perfect gauge for the application.

Available in various geometries and sizes, the M Series has a temperature range from -200 to 300 degrees Celsius, up to 10 million load cycles at plus or minus 2,000 µm/m fatigue loading, and measuring grid lengths from 1.5 to six millimetres. The temperature responses are adaptable to ferritic steel, austenitic steel, aluminum, silica/composite/ titanium and grey cast iron, plastic, molybdenum, and other materials. The number of temperature matching codes goes from one to nine, depending on the material.

These industrial strain gauges also have solder tabs with strain relief and a measuring grid consisting of special nickel-chromium alloy, while the measuring-grid carrier is constructed of glass-fibre reinforced phenolic resin. Available in 350 and 1,000 ohms, the M Series comes in six models available from factory stock, with maximum excitation voltage from seven to 27 volts. Quick delivery from the supplier is possible for preferred strain-gauge types.

Among the many sectors that Durham Instruments deems the M Series suitable for are general manufacturing, automation, food processing, forestry, education, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.
