HBM offers various options for its Somat eDAQ and eDAQXR DAQ systems.

HBM Test and Measurement manufactures many innovative solutions that are available in Canada through Durham Instruments. The lineup includes the Somat eDAQ and eDAQXR data acquisition (DAQ) systems, which are rugged, optimized devices for mobile testing in harsh work environments. These are ideal tools for a wide variety of applications.

Although these DAQ systems are great solutions themselves, many options and accessories are available from HBM to make them even better.

Different processor and layer options

HBM offers two great processor options for these devices: the EXRCPU and the ECPU Plus. The EXRCPU is a workhorse unit that can perform real-time calculations and offer powerful real-time displays of channels like strip charts, digital, FFT, and XY. The system can also send text messages or e-mails in the event of a fault condition. Unique features include three memory options, two expansion ports, and support for up to eight legacy layers. The ECPU Plus offers a larger operating power range, support for up to eight signal-conditioning layers, and optional CAN and GPS ports.

Layer options for these data acquisition systems include the EHLS simultaneous high-level layer, the EBRG bridge layer, the EDIO digital input-output layer, the EITB isolated thermocouple layer, the ENTB eDAQ non-isolated thermocouple layer, and the ECOM vehicle network communications layer (the ECOM is not supported with the EXRCPU).

Several expansion modules are also available. The SomatXR MX1615B-R is ideal for experimental stress analysis or structural and load testing, while the SomatXR MX840B-R is perfect for frequently changing memory tasks. The SomatXR MX1601B-R supports all electric and active sensors, and the SomatXR MX1609KB-R/TB-R is designed for temperature measurement.

Accessories that work with these data acquisition systems include a GPS receiver, a power supply, an eDisplay, and several types of I/O, communications, and networking cables.

These DAQ systems and their options are suitable for many applications in agriculture, construction machinery, the automotive sector, recreational vehicles, and railroad testing, according to HBM. Durham Instruments also recommends them for use in aerospace, food processing, forestry, education, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, and transportation.
