CANbus module

The HBM QuantumX MX471C CANbus module, available from Durham Instruments

HBM Test and Measurement manufactures top industrial devices, and Durham Instruments is proud to supply these solutions in Canada. The HBM QuantumX MX471 CANbus module enables simultaneous integration of as many as four CANbus networks into the QuantumX data-acquisition system – and users can expand it as needed.

The QuantumX MX471 comes recommended for use in mobile vehicle tests and as a measurement gateway in test benches when combined with analog measurement modules.

Output in real time

This CANbus module has a powerful Gateway Mode that enables transmission of up to 200 analog or digital input signals to the test bench control system or any data recorder, so users can integrate these instruments as standalone systems. Messages can be split up as required and reassembled to set up a CAN-2-CAN gateway.

By putting the channel in Recorder Mode, users can acquire any number of signals simultaneously – vehicle speed, steering-wheel position, brake command, et cetera – with the analog CANbus inputs and use them to trigger data storage or analysis. All acquired signals can be output in real time, even EtherCAT.

With the QuantumX MX471 CANbus module, users have one device for sending or receiving data and changing data type and compilation. It is capable of data transfer rates of up to four megabits per second and of signal reception and transmission with high data throughput. The unit is compatible with CAN 2.0 A/B, CCP, xCP-on-CAN, and J1939, and linking is easy through Ethernet or FireWire. Flexible integration into various networks is possible with many supported protocols.

Another advantage is universal use, with four individually configurable, electrically isolated channels and an extensive range of accessories. The QuantumX MX471 is perfect for measurements with multiple CANbus systems and offers packet generation and transmission of analog inputs through CAN messages. Users can synchronously record bus signals due to optimal integration into the QuantumX family.

Durham Instruments offers two variations of this module: the MX471B – Classical CAN, with a data rate of up to one megabit per second, and the MX471C – CAN FD, for up to four megabits per second.
