Several Han-Modular shielded options are available.

The Han-Modular connector series from HARTING Canada established the trend towards modular connectivity solutions, with its versatility and flexibility. To meet current demand for high power densities, the manufacturer has developed the Han-Modular 300 A series of shielded modules. As these connectors are downward-compatible with the 200 A series, users can plug them into 200 A modules, which means existing systems can be upgraded easily, with the lower rated power available.

Demands for higher transmission rates

The 300 A module has been built to allow both direct connections to a busbar and installations in slide-in systems. This new series also meets the market requirement for modules to be touch-proof on both their socket and pin sides.

In addition to the 300 A series, there are other shielded modules available in the Han-Modular series from HARTING. To meet demands for higher transmission rates, the company offers the M12 module, which enables integration of ten gigabits per second of Ethernet into modular connectors. This reduces required space significantly, since two D- or X-coded M12 connectors fit into one module. The M12 series is also more robust and reliable than the standard RJ45 solution.

Another example is the new Han shielded power module. Each of these shielded modules has three power contacts and a PE contact for connecting standard three-phase loads, as well as two signal contacts for temperature monitoring and brakes. The large shield enables EMC-compliant connection of the cable shielding directly to the module.

This new module has been tested in practical applications in the EMC laboratory. The shield has EMC characteristics that are compatible with standard drive applications like frequency-controlled three-phase motors. So users can plug in shielded power lines, and it allows direct connection of the module to the shield. This reduces installation times for machines and systems.

The series also includes an EMC-protected module for signal transmission, with a large shield and additional 360-degree shielding plate. This option ensures a high transmission volume in minimal space. Named the Han Shielded Module Basic, this connector is a simple, cost-efficient solution for machinery and robotics.
