Harting has announced that all of its new and existing products for Ethernet applications will conform to Profinet, one of the most successful industrial Ethernet systems worldwide. This “conformity declaration,” as the company calls it, lets its customers know they can rely on security in their applications.

The new products which extend the Profinet portfolio include:

  • preLink, a modular Ethernet cabling system in which cable and connector are conveniently divided into two independent and continually reusable components;
  • the M12 Press and Go connector, a ready assembled connection of cable and connector without overmoulding; and
  • the new X-coded M12 plug, which has a transfer rate of Category 6A and transfer class EA.

With this conformity, Harting enables its industrial Ethernet customers to take a major step forward on the way to the Smart Factory and, thereby, to Industry 4.0, the company says.

Harting is a family owned company based in Germany, with a portfolio of connectivity solutions that focuses on multiple levels, from the machine to the device and into the communication infrastructure. The company employs more than 4,000 people globally, with subsidiaries and branch offices in 40 countries, including one in Saint-Laurent, Que.
