Since automated processing of components is steadily increasing in today’s manufacturing landscape, and the automated assembly of printed circuit boards keeps expanding to include more components, HARTING developed the M12 SMT series. These miniature connector solutions can be seated on a circuit board with pick-and-place, a fast and automatic process.
Circuit boards were limited to just a few parts in the past. But today, users can use the pick-and-play method to load virtually all of the components of a board. The following step is to heat all of these components in a soldering furnace and solder them; this process eliminates the requirement for separate wave soldering, and it also saves costs significantly.
The M12 SMT series of miniature connector solutions is available in both male and female models and in three codes: A, D, and X. This design has brought both Ethernet and power up to ten gigabytes per second to the PCB from the new miniaturized switches. The user gets distinct benefits from this diversity of designs, like the automated, quick, and more cost-effective placement of the connection. The reason is that the connection can be equipped on both sides, because of the elimination of through-hole contacts.
