HARTING Americas president Jon DeSouza, third from left, accepts a plaque recognizing HARTING’s acceptance in UL’s Client Data Acceptance Program.

The HARTING Technology Group has been accepted into the Client Test Data Program of Underwriters Laboratories (UL), which will accelerate the certification of HARTING products for sale in the North American market.

HARTING joining the Client Test Data Program means it can conduct product testing in its own designated laboratory and then submit the results to UL to streamline the certification process. The product development process at HARTING will be directly linked to UL’s certification requirements – so that UL doesn’t have to conduct additional, exhaustive testing after the product is market-ready and being sold in other regions of the world where it has been certified to different national or international safety standards.

In-house testing of new products

With the help of the Client Test Data Program, HARTING’s own testing will cover matters such as safety compliance, cyber security, sustainability, quality, and brand leadership as the product is being developed. The manufacturer can now obtain licences for its products for North America in a more timely fashion, including customer-specific solutions developed with customers.

UL is one of the world’s top safety organizations. Headquartered in Northbrook, IL, with multiple locations worldwide, this independent scientific body is one of only a handful of organizations that the United States’ Occupational Safety and Health Administration has approved to perform safety testing, as one of the latter’s official Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories.
