North America is a growing market for Harting. The leader in connectivity solutions recently announced that it looks to the U.S. as the driving force behind digitalization and Industry 4.0, and has partnered with several leading organizations in the country to keep up with emerging trends.

Exploring opportunities in North America

Harting has developed technology partnerships with several institutions and organizations in North America, including MIT and the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIT), a Massachusetts-based organization aimed at further developing Internet technologies for industrial use.

“Driven by IT and software, the highly dynamic U.S. economy offers huge opportunities for Harting, as classic suppliers of solutions for machine and plant construction and integrated industry experts,” said Dr. Frank Brode, Harting’s senior vice-president of new technologies, during a recent press tour in the U.S.

Brode pointed to the huge growth potential of digitalization, and the importance of working with U.S. partners to bring together the “cyberworld” and actual production.

“Digitalization will turn the world of today upside down. Processes, business models and entire sectors will either change or perish,” said Brode. ”The developments triggered by the Internet of Things will continue to remain the mega topic in coming years. Harting will actively participate in the development of these new technologies, and will bring them to market maturity. Our membership in IIC and also in MIT allows us to keep our finger on the pulse of the times.”

With that in mind, Harting U.S. recently announced that Dr. Vivek Dave has been hired as the director of technology development. In this role, Dave will direct all North America-related research activities, new technologies and projects with Harting’s key technology partners.

An industry leader

The Harting Technology Group, family owned and based in Germany, has remained successful and experienced continued growth over the last 70 years because it recognizes opportunities, and continues to develop leading technologies and solutions. The company’s core business is intelligent and high performance connection technology.
