The T1 Industrial connector by HARTING

Industry can always rely on innovations in the area of workplace connectivity from HARTING Canada. A couple of years ago, the manufacturer introduced the T1 Industrial Ethernet connector, the standard mating face for Single Pair Ethernet (SPE). This connector achieves communication across all common Ethernet protocols with only one twisted pair of wires, instead of four or eight wires. The T1 Industrial is designed to work with Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, and various other common protocols.

No external power supply required

The T1 Industrial offers the necessary communication, voltage, and amperage to power the device by using power-over-date-line technology. This Ethernet connector lowers the amount of connections on the device, which means no external power supply is required. The devices on a facility floor that have previously communicated over Fieldbus protocols can now join the same IP-based network that link the other devices. This system enables peer-to-peer communication, open-loop feedback of all devices, and smart functionality between the main control room and the device.

The HARTING team designed the mating interface to be the same and interoperable across all IP ratings, to ensure the T1 is truly the standard for industrial applications. This Ethernet connector has a robust design that offers locking level protection, 360-degree shielding, and high mating cycles.

The T1 Industrial has a mating face that is standardized according to the IEC 63171-6 calibre, and it also complies with the IEEE 802.3 requirements for SPE use. This connector is perfect for the construction of future-proof and standardized SPE communication networks with standardized cabling according to ISO/IEC 11801 and TIA 42.

Introduced only two-and-a-half years ago, SPE technology is the result of five years of hard work. On top of the aforementioned benefits, like no external power and network consistency, this groundbreaking connectivity design also significantly lowers the space and number of connections on the device. The T1 is the core product in this recent technology, and HARTING intends to contribute several other components to the SPE ecosystem. Ranging from IP20 to IP67, the T1 Industrial connector comes in the metric variants M8 and M12.
