No more manual wiring
Data-centre developers and planners previously had to wire electrical connections manually from every UPS to the PDUs, but this task took too much time and was prone to wiring errors. So after the user has installed the IT equipment being supplied with power, the only task left is to plug in the cable assembly, which takes far less time than wiring it directly to the PDUs would.
It is extremely important to minimize downtime, which is another advantage of this alternative solution. During maintenance, a worker can quickly, simply take the connection apart and re-establish it with a HARTING cable assembly. This yields far less downtime that hard wiring does.
With the advent of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), manufacturers are developing intelligent solutions on the connector side, which are already on the market. These connectors allow identification modules to store data about a unit’s status and communicate the information. Over-voltage protection modules stop damage to data-centre units that could lead to system issues.
