Henkel has launched a new online adhesive selector to help customers easily and quickly identify the best product for the application. By answering 10 simple questions about the application, customers will instantly receive information about the best adhesive to fit the requirements of the application.

How it works

The online adhesive selector prompts users to answer 10 simple questions about their specific application to determine the best fit. The customer’s input is shown on the screen and can be adjusted at any time through the process.

For example, after selecting their region, customers must choose the type of material they are bonding. Options include metals, coated metals, composites, plastics, wood and glass. Next, they must select the contact area size of the bonded parts (small, medium, large), and describe how large the gap is between the bonded parts (< 0.5 millimetres, 0.5 to two millimetres or two to five millimetres). Next, they must select the type of setting required — whether it’s a high-speed assembly that requires fixture in less than two minutes, within five minutes or within an hour. Once these questions have been answered, the selector will ask if the assembly needs to transmit high mechanical loads between the bonded parts, whether the assembled parts are subject to a high degree of relative movement, and whether the assembly is subject to significant dynamic loads such as shock or impact loading. Finally, the selector will ask whether the assembly is subjected to elevated temperatures, and if it will be operating in aggressive environments.

Once these questions have been answered, the selector will suggest adhesives that fit the application requirements.
