The HARTING Technology Group has created the ideal electrical connectors for potentially explosive work environments in the oil and gas, mining, chemical, and process-automation sectors. The new Han Ex connectors are now available for use in these industries across North America.

An electric alternative

With several different designs, the HARTING Han Ex connectors are the perfect alternative to traditional hard-wiring electrical connections. Their strong, robust metal locking levers cannot be released without the use of a tool; this prevents the inadvertent opening of the levers in an explosive work environment, which could be catastrophic. In addition, the blue colour makes them easy to spot, facilitating the identification of safe circuits.

HARTING Han Ex connectors have IP65/67 protection class in the mated position, with housings and inserts available in sizes ranging from 3A to 48B. These inserts meet the standards of the ignition protection class, even when used in tight, hard-to-reach spaces. A worker can locate as many as 24 contacts in the size-24B housing. Users can create connections with crimp and screw terminals and with Han-Quick Lock, which is HARTING’s quick-connection technology.

With reliable, vibration-proof connections, these products create safer work atmospheres, even when used in some of the most dangerous applications. Han Ex connectors have higher installation speed than hard-wiring connections and reduce maintenance and troubleshooting, allowing for work to get done more efficiently and safely.

HARTING’s Han Ex connectors meet the National Electric Code 500 standard, which means that they are certified for use in Class I, Division II hazardous locations.
