Han 1A modular connector series by HARTING wins major design award

HARTING recently won the iF DESIGN AWARD.

The HARTING Technology Group is devoted to groundbreaking connectivity. Last month, the corporation’s innovations were recognized by iF International Forum Design GmbH, the world’s oldest independent design organization, which bestows the prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD. This year’s prize in the Electrical Connector category went to HARTING for the unique Han 1A modular connector series. A 78-member jury, composed of independent experts from around the globe, elected to give this award to HARTING.

Arbiter of design quality

Internationally renowned as an arbiter of quality for exceptional design, the iF DESIGN AWARD is one of the most important prizes of its kind in the world – presented by a label known for outstanding design services. iF also awards submissions in categories for packaging, communication and service design, architecture, and professional concept. All of the winners appear in the iF WORLD DESIGN GUIDE and the iF design app; they are also featured in the iF design exhibition in Berlin.

The Han 1A modular connector series won out over 7,298 entries from 56 countries. These HARTING connectors can be used for either indoor or outdoor applications, and each has a uniquely small system of inserts and accessories for power, data, and signal. They can be used in a variety of industries, especially those in which small, highly flexible and affordable connectivity is required. Among the key examples:

• Machinery and robotics. Businesses in this industry can use this modular connector series to connect tools and modules efficiently, including heating or cooling units, fans, control terminals, lighting systems, drives, or vibration conveyors.
• Logistics. With its modular construction and variety of uses, the Han 1A series suits areas in which a supply is necessary for multiple small drives, sensors, and devices.
• Rail transportation. The modular system of inserts and accessories can be used for door systems, lighting, headlights, loudspeakers, screens, scoreboards, warning and alarm lights, buttons, wipers, or signal generators.
