CompAir’s latest revolution in compressor technology is the Ultima, a water-cooled, oil-free compressor. This unit combines high performance with exceptional efficiency, making it the ideal compressed air solution for applications that demand a clean air supply.

Key features and advantages

The Ultima is part of CompAir’s PureAir range. It features a powerful and compact U-Drive unit — a variable-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor that is capable of speeds up to 22,000 rpm. Thanks to the ultra-compact design of the U-Drive, the Ultima utilizes two motors simultaneously, each powered by its own inverter. An intelligent “digital gearbox” links the two U-Drive units, adjusting their speeds continuously. The ability to run both air ends at different rates, depending on demand, means Ultima can perfectly match the delivery ratio for optimum efficiency.

Another advantage is that the Ultima offers up to 12 per cent better heat recovery than a standard two-stage oil-free compressor. This is because it features a closed-loop water-cooling system that takes heat from all major components. This water can then be piped out of the machine to be used elsewhere.

In addition, the Ultima does not vent warm air into the compressor room. Instead, it is designed to process and cool warm air within the unit, where it is re-circulated around the compressor via the base frame. This design ensures minimal waste, eliminates the need for external ducting, and prevents dust and particles from entering the compressor.

Another bonus: the Ultima uses 20 per cent fewer parts than a standard oil-free compressor, allowing it to be 37 per cent smaller than other units. The unit is also quiet. Its bespoke construction means that a 160-kilowatt compressor runs at a mere 69 dB(A) noise level. As a result, it can be installed at the point of use rather than being hidden away in a compressor room.

Additional details

The Ultima is available in models ranging from 75 to 160 kilowatts. Each model comes with the PureCARE service and maintenance program, which is tailored to the customer’s specific application and site circumstances to ensure uninterrupted quality and optimum performance.
