The Schroff Series 44-5 wedge-lok, available via Gould

A top provider of fastening products in the Canadian industrial landscape, Gould Fasteners has access to innovative, top-level goods from dozens of international manufacturers. One of these manufacturers is Schroff, and one of its newer products is the Series 44-5 wedge-lok, mostly recommended for use in board-module assembly applications.

Easy insertion and removal

The wedge-lok is a unique style of fastener that uses leverage to wedge between reinforcing or ties and cavity wall insulation. With its wedge design and rib-faced locking system, secure connection is guaranteed. This is a simple fastening system that requires no adhesives.

The Schroff Series 44-5 wedge-lok has zero insertion force to enable easy insertion and removal of board-module assembly. It also has a self-aligning spring feature, a large profile for better clamping action, and an optional variation with no mounting holes. The wedge-lok mounts to the power supply and board-module assembly with rivets or screws.

With a weight of 2.79 grams per centimetre, the Series 44-5 wedge-lok connects to the board-module assembly with a recommended torque of 180 Newton centimetres, and the cold plate should have a gap of the board-module assembly’s thickness plus 10.8.

Other materials required for the fastening process:

  • Aluminum alloy wedges;
  • Stainless steel, 3.6-millimetre hex. socket head cap screws, depending on mounting configuration;
  • Beryllium copper alignment springs; and
  • Optional lock & flat washers and locknuts.

Schroff offers four options for applying the Series 44-5 wedge-lok: the VI option, which indicates when the assembly is unlocked; the LF option, which adds shock and vibration resistance, as well as screw length of 2.5; the LN option, which captivates the rear wedge when untorqued; and the L option, which also adds shock and vibration resistance.
