The GHS asphalt pump by Gorman-Rupp

York Fluid Controls Ltd. carries a full range of Gorman-Rupp fluid-handling solutions, including a line of heavy-duty, self-priming rotary gear pumps that are perfect for asphalt applications. These pumps blend high-performance materials with innovative design to exceed the results of all similar pumps from the competition.

Offering bidirectional, non-pulsating flow and hydraulically tested before shipment, these asphalt pumps by Gorman-Rupp offer premium-quality features for performance and serviceability.

Minimal expensive maintenance downtime

Gorman-Rupp self-priming rotary gear pumps are tough units designed to handle all asphalt tasks, from refinery and terminal storage to hot mix or roofing plants. They work with clean, blended, emulsion, or filled asphalts, like abrasive, limestone/silica sand roofing material. Advantages: high-strength gears for dependable handling of viscous asphalt; deep-end feed area for better priming performance; interchangeable, rear-pullout seals that minimize expensive maintenance downtime; thermal jackets for temperature control and smooth operation with jacket-related viscous fluids; and optimized shaft support locations for long lifespan.

Three sizes of these pumps are available from York Fluid Controls: medium-, heavy, and extreme-duty. The GMS series of medium-duty, cast iron units works best with clean asphalt, and they can be configured for different needs. Among their features are high-strength iron gears, idler pins for self-lubrication, deep-end feeds, high-performance shaft brushing, and flexible seal features. Sizes run from one to six inches; maximum capacity is 600 gallons per minute (gpm); maximum pressure is 200 pounds per square inch (psi).

The GHS series of heavy-duty asphalt pumps is recommended for filled asphalt and high-pressure bulk, terminal, and refinery tasks. These are made of cast and ductile iron and provide externally adjustable clearance and engineered sealing solutions, plus idler pins, thermal jackets, and deep-end feeds. Maximum pressure is 400 psi, while the size range and maximum capacity are identical to the medium-duty option’s.

Blending high wear resistance with proven gear-pump technology, the GHA series of extreme-duty pumps is designed for tougher filled asphalts containing silica sand and limestone concentrations, plus other severe applications. Sizes from 1½ to six inches, maximum capacity of 325 gpm, maximum pressure 200 psi.
