Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment (ELS) has earned a reputation for improving its customers’ workplace safety and productivity. That’s because the manufacturer’s overhead lifting systems have been making difficult jobs seem easy for more than 45 years.

One recent example comes from a manufacturer of plastic injection moulded parts for the automotive industry. This company’s workers were physically straining themselves by manually pushing a gantry crane, until ELS supplied a more ergonomic solution.

A dangerous problem

The company’s process required that plastic injection moulds weighing more than 2,000 pounds be transported to the maintenance work cell on a rolling cart, where they were maintained and reassembled. In the maintenance cell, the workers were tasked with picking up the moulds with a steel gantry crane, and then walking the mould and crane together over to the appropriate maintenance table. This action caused physical strain on the company’s employees. There had to be a better way.

A safe solution

The customer turned to ELS for help, and selected a Gorbel freestanding workstation crane for the job. Once the crane was installed, workers were able to roll the mould cart into the maintenance work cell, pick the mould up off the cart by simply moving the bridge into position, and then place the mould onto the appropriate maintenance table.

Today, thanks to the new crane, the company’s mould maintenance process is a lot more efficient and ergonomic. Workers feel the difference and ergonomic benefit of the Gorbel workstation crane.

A leading manufacturer

ELS is a leading provider of standard and custom overhead lifting systems and equipment. The Ontario-based company’s solutions enable customers to accomplish their operational goals, and its team is dedicated to designing, manufacturing and installing crane systems that exceed expectations.
