Free information session highlights benefits of groundbreaking PLC

Thermo-Kinetics will be hosting two free information sessions on the new Honeywell ControlEdge PLC, the latest version of the industry's first programmable logic controller to offer universal I/O. The free seminars will take place on September 28 in Mississauga, Ont.

An unrivaled PLC

ControlEdge PLC stands out because it offers unmatched connectivity, cyber security and versatility. It is one of the first controllers that supports Honeywell's IIoT and ISA99 Ready initative, allowing more direct access to cloud-based applications used for analytics and visualization. The multi-level and multi-platform open communication offered by ControlEdge enables flexible and scalable design and standardization with less hardware. The result is a PLC that offers easy configuration, efficient operation and lower maintenance requirements to help free plant personnel from performing manual processes.

When it comes to security, the ControlEdge integrated cyber security — a built-in firewall, secure boot to prevent unauthorized software from being uploaded, and a certified secure development lifecycle — helps reduce risk and improve compliance.

ControlEdge PLC can be supplied in pre-engineered solutions for specific applications. They include pre-designed hardware and software that makes engineering and commissioning faster and easier. Additional features include: full HART integration via HART Universal I/O and HART-IP; certified to ISASecure ESDA Level 2; IIoT ready via OPC UA Protocol; and tight Experion integration.

Built on Honeywell’s time-proven HC900 Hybrid Controller, the ControlEdge PLC uses the same racks and power supplies. The common HC900 hardware has been proven in the field for around 15 years with more than 14,000 installations globally. The ControlEdge CPM platform is shared with the RTU2020 — proven under the harshest operating conditions for two years and more than 1,400 systems — and, with the release of Revision R140, will also share the same I/O cards as the HC900 Controller.

About the information sessions

The sessions will take place on September 28 at 6740 Invader Crescent in Mississauga. The first session will take place from 10 am until noon, while the second session will take place from 1 to 3 pm.
