HARTING Canada is the local affiliate of the HARTING Technology Group, which has served as a leader in workplace connectivity since 1945. This family company has spent more than three-quarters of a century developing and manufacturing top digital solutions. These dependable, durable connectors have become the standard in mechanical and plant engineering, broadcasting, automation, electronics, and power generation. The company’s longtime success is the result of constant growth and evolution.

Shaping the future with technology

Today, the corporation is a world-leading manufacturer and supplier – but it all stems from humble origins. HARTING was founded on Sept. 1, 1945 by married entrepreneurs Wilhelm and Marie Harting, who opened a small business in a 100-square-metre hall in a repair shop in Minden, Germany. Called Wilhelm Harting Mechanical Workshops, this new company manufactured energy-saving bulbs, hotplates, electric fencing equipment, waffle irons, electric lighters, and more.

Business picked up quickly, and the Hartings expanded their company to match the steady increase in orders and their sizes. Customers demanded versatile, robust, user-friendly connectors, leading to the development of the Han connector – which soon became the global standard in industrial connectivity.

Now, the company drives top digital solutions and technological change while offering decisive impetus for future generations – having grown from a producer of everyday items to a world leader in connectivity solutions for the three lifelines of data, signal, and power. For 25 years, HARTING has lived up to the following vision: “We want to shape the future with technologies for people.” This mission has remained the guiding star of the company’s entrepreneurial actions.

HARTING has expanded to consist of 13 production sites and 43 sales companies internationally. The company remains a global player, creating groundbreaking connectivity solutions that prepare businesses for a future of digitization. HARTING has succeeded in opening new markets with its technologies in e-mobility, resource-saving power generation, and other fields in the core industry of workplace connectivity.
