L. & M. Precision Products Inc. is the largest screw-machine jobbing shop in the country, and it has expanded substantially in size and stature for decades. Today, it is the custom-machining shop of choice for many businesses across Canada, with continuously growing production capacity and equipment inventory that serve customers well.

When the company was established in 1962, it started in a 2,000-square-foot building, but its success necessitated a move 15 years later to a bigger plant, measuring 17,000 square feet. Another 10,000 square feet was added when L. & M. took over part of an adjacent building in 1994, and six years later, its production facilities expanded by another 37,000 square feet. Today, the company owns 64,000 square feet of production space at its west Toronto plant.

The current facility houses more than 70 employees and more than 70 first-operation screw machines; there is also a sizable secondary-operations area and efficient shipping and quality-control departments. This abundant capacity lets the company handle a broad range of customers and applications in all industries, as its large employee base holds a diverse range of expertise that can always accommodate new projects. The engineering and production staff ensure the most efficient processes with their considerable experience. This way, L. & M. does not need to limit its scope to specific products or sectors.

Another key advantage of running such a large custom machining shop is extra storage. L. & M. buys material and tooling in large volumes to keep its pricing competitive, with plentiful room in which to store it. The company also has a unique stock-and-release program that lets clients order products in large quantities, store the products at the L. & M. plant, and release them when required.
