high-viscosity liquid pumps

York Fluid Controls supplies FLUX Type F 550 pumps.

York Fluid Controls carries many pumping solutions by FLUX, the company that invented the electric drum pump in 1950. Today, FLUX manufactures several models of high-viscosity liquid pumps, which have been proven in industries worldwide. These products come in two main designs to transfer media with thin-to-high viscosity levels.

The Type F 550 series of eccentric worm-drive pumps is easy to operate and maintain, and each meets high FLUX standards for advanced design and safety features.

Smooth pumping with minimal turbulence

These high-viscosity liquid pumps offer smooth pumping of liquids with minimal turbulence. Their innovative design has no inaccessible or hidden voids, making them perfect for use in the food-processing, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical sectors. They are designed for a broad variety of applications, work for either vertical or horizontal use, and offer low wear and no valves or vanes. Sanitary versions are available, with 3A approval.

The two primary versions of FLUX high-viscosity liquid pumps available from York Fluid Controls are Type F 550 S and Type F 55 GS. Each must be used with a drive motor, stator, and hose connection. The former type is a robust pump that is suitable for continuous operation. It is available with a three-phase electric motor or a compressed-air motor. An alternate version, Type F 550 S B, includes a bearing flange.

The Type F 550 S group is recommended for transferring free-flowing substances ranging from thin to highly viscous, even pasty. Typical applications include pumping viscous fluids from barrels or containers and feeding filling machines. The motor required depends on the viscosity of the substance: viscosity higher than 50,000 centipoise needs a motor of 1.1 kilowatts with a speed of 700 revolutions per minute.

For quick-change applications, FLUX recommends the Type F 55 GS, a lightweight, versatile pump that is easy to handle and equipped with a planetary gear. This model is perfect for conveying liquids with viscosity no higher than 30,000 centipoise. Among the relevant applications is liquid transfer from barrels and/or containers. A variation, Type F 55 GSB, includes a stuffing box seal.
