solenoid coils

New Festo specialty solenoid valves and coils for the chemical and petrochemical sectors like the VOFC increase process safety and cut costs associated with failure and maintenance.

Innovation is one of the reasons for Festo Canada’s continuing success, and the company lives up to that reputation once again with a new, advanced line of solenoid valves and coils. These products, VOFC/VOFD solenoid valves and VACC solenoid coils, offer a higher level of safety and reliability for users in the petroleum and chemical industries. By boosting process safety across the entire system, these devices reduce failure and maintenance expenses.

Optimum resistance again degradation

The VOFC and VOFD series come highly recommended for many demanding applications in these sectors. Not only do these electric valves meet the highest safety standards in the market – specifically, up to SIL3 for explosion protection – they also are certified by the German Technical Control Board, with TÜV certificates up to SIL3, according to IEC 61508.

The Festo team treats the surface of the VOFC/VOFD valve housing with the Ematal process for optimum resistance to atmospheric and chemical degradation, in both indoor and outdoor applications. The Ematal anodizing technique results in a hard aluminum oxide layer with titanium oxide intercalations; this makes the solenoid valve resistant against wear and abrasion, while giving the components first-class sliding qualities.

Festo manufactures the 3/2- and 5/2-way VOFC and VOFD valves for control and safe deactivation of pneumatic drives in potentially explosive areas of chemical and petrochemical facilities. The NAMUR flange patterns makes these solenoid valves perfect for quarter-turn actuators. Each has an integrated spring chamber ventilation function that protects quarter-turn actuators with spring return – or single-acting cylinders and actuators – against contaminated ambient air and weather influences.

The VACC series of solenoid coils is available for available for ignition protection types, including Ex-e-mb, Ex-ia, Ex-db, and Ex-d. Local and regional certifications are available. VACC-S13 coils are designed to work with VOFC valves, covering the ignition protection types Ex-ia and Ex-me, while VACC-S18 solenoid coils fit VOFD valves while covering Ex-me and Ex-d ignition protection types.
