Festo is known for developing innovative products to meet its customers’ needs. So when the leader in automation technology saw the need for an economical, general use valve terminal, it delivered.

Meet the new addition

The new VTUG plug-in is a compact, easy-to-configure, low-cost extension to Festo’s standard valve terminal portfolio. This aluminum sub-base terminal can accommodate up to 24 valve positions in a fixed grid, saving significant amounts of wiring time and control cabinet space.

The multi-pin terminal can be configured to meet the exact needs of the customer. It comes with a choice of D-Sub and ribbon cable interface, whichever best suits the application. For network communications, Festo offers an innovative I/O link connection to connect to any higher level I/O link master. The VTUG can also be configured for a fieldbus or industrial Ethernet network by attaching the appropriate module to the unit’s I/O link port.

The plug-ins are available in multiple sizes, measuring 10, 14 and 18 millimetres, with an air flow rate of up to 1,200 l/min and a wide choice of variants. The new 18-millimetre model is ideal for obtaining short cycle times with high volume cylinder strokes.

The VTUG can be configured with sub-base or in-line valves, and for protection classes IP40, IP65 or IP67. Multiple pressure zones can be created quickly and easily with separators.

Another bonus: The VTUG is suitable for both compressed air and vacuum, and can be set up to do both in the same application. Numerous functionalities, such as pneumatic connections underneath the valve, make the VTUG particularly well-suited for use in a control cabinet. Festo even offers a downloadable DXF contour template to take the guesswork out of drilling the cabinet openings and mounting holes.

Additional details

The VTUG is yet another innovative technology developed by Festo. The company’s portfolio of automation solutions includes a wide selection of individual products, as well as ready-to-install solutions.
