heavy duty valve terminal

The VSTA-FC-B, the latest addition to Festo’s VSTA heavy duty valve terminal series, provides maximum flexibility for integrating enhanced safety control configurations. It also can actuate up to 96 valve addresses instead of the usual 32.

The latest addition to the VTSA family of valve terminals from Festo Canada is the VTSA-F-CB device. This is a heavy duty valve terminal with serial communications added to its parallel communications capability. The result is a smaller amount of components and less wiring within the same installation space.

The VTSA-F-CB also has an internal bus system that enables actuation of up to 96 valve addresses, rather than the standard 32. It can work with four zones on one device and one fieldbus node.

Four different CPX/pneumatic interfaces

The manufacturer’s most flexible valve-terminal concept, the VTSA series is used commonly in medium and heavy industry, and it can handle many ISO sizes and high-flow valves. The new VTSA-F-CB heavy duty valve terminal allows the user to mix 18- and 26-millimetre valves freely on the same manifold – which reduces both the size and cost of the manifold.

One trait that distinguishes the VTSA-F-CB: four different CPX/pneumatic interfaces for maximum integration flexibility. One is a basic interface for applications that do not need safety control. Two are integrated PROFIsafe versions, one to control three safe valve zones and one to control two zones with one safe output. The fourth interface allows allows an external safety fieldbus module to control three pneumatic safety zones directly.

Configuration options for this heavy duty valve terminal include a pilot air switching valve, for manual work stations and other applications that need higher safety, and a safety soft-start/quick-exhaust valve for slow startup to operational pressurization in a safe, controlled manner. The VTSA-F-CB also functions as a vacuum generator with an air-saving feature with an ejector pulse. The generator switches off automatically when the terminal reaches the desired vacuum level. Users can also achieve extensive diagnostics and parametrization of set points.
