Festo SDBT proximity switch is perfect for standard automation applications

The latest innovation from the Festo Canada lineup is the pioneering SDBT-MSX programmable proximity switch. This is the first product of its kind with an automatic switching point setting, which makes commissioning simpler than ever. The SDBT-MSX is easy and dependable to install, particularly in applications with difficult mounting, due to its initial detection range of 20 millimetres (mm). The unit is perfect for all standard applications, especially in factory automation, small-parts handling, and the electronics sector.

Installation with minimal time, effort

Minimal time and effort are needed to install this groundbreaking solution. It is installed in the approximate end-stop position within the 20-mm detection range, which is indicated on the sensor, and then the cable is connected to the PLC. It does not even require a power supply during installation. During initial operation, the SDBT-MSX detects the end position of the piston stroke and automatically learns and remembers the switching point. No other solid-state positioning switch on the market has achieved this innovation to date.

The user can manually teach the switching point of the SDBT-MSX with the capacitive control button as an alternative; this also enables selection of PNP, NPN, Normally Open, or Normally Closed options, while the switching window can be set from two to 15 mm. This flexibility can also decrease the variety of sensor types required to be kept in the inventory.

This proximity switch is the first one available with auto teach-in for easy, quick commissioning. It fits in every drive with a T-slot, and it pairs best with such Festo drives as the DSBC ISO cylinder, the DFM guided drive, the DSNU round cylinder, the ADN and AND-S compact cylinders, and the DGST mini-slide. Users can access the sensor’s full capabilities with any of these pairings.
