suction cups

Festo’s OGVM suction cups are the latest expansion of the company’s portfolio of end-of-arm tooling solutions.

The newest addition to the Festo Canada portfolio is the OGVM series of vacuum suction cups, which offer sure grips on large loads. Developed with the needs of the automotive industry in mind, these units make the handling of heavy oily and dry sheets extremely dynamic. Festo recommends them for press-fitting lines, body shops, and final assembly, and they are also perfect for manufacturers of white goods and movers of sheet metal.

Faster, safer handling processes

The OGVM series enables faster, safer handling processes. The insides have a special structure that allows the cups to absorb the highest transverse forces. The suction ergonomics result in minimal suction times, as well as high inherent stability in the suction state and absorption of extreme holding and transverse forces, including those on oiled surfaces. Some variants have large strokes that are ideal for work pieces with complex structures.

Among the many key advantages of these suction cups, handling solutions become very energy-efficient, with optimum suction ergonomics for top process reliability. In addition, they come with various accessories to adapt them to a broad variety of applications. The OGVM series is available in three basic shapes, with diameters ranging from 30 to 125 millimetres.

As the automation universe continues to expand, so does the Festo lineup of gripper solutions. In addition to OGVM suction cups, the company now offers a large portfolio of mechanical, vacuum, and magnetic grippers, both electrically and pneumatically actuated. Festo is pioneering in the new field of adaptive grippers too, including units with the DHAS series with the patented Fin Ray structure, inspired by the natural movements of fish tails.

Another example is the DHEF, a shape-shifting gripper that handles various object designs without the need to change grippers. A wide size range is available; for example, the extremely compact rotary gripper module EHMD is recommended for light assembly and med-lab tasks in confined spaces. Festo also makes heavy-duty models for moving large loads in heavy industries.

Festo has authored a blog that details recent gripper developments, including a link to a new white paper.
