compact cylinder

The new DPDM Multimount compact cylinder is Festo’s smallest, lightest, and most economical choice yet in its class. It can be mounted at the front or rear, vertically or horizontally, hence the “Multimount” in its name.

The latest innovative industrial solution to come from the Festo Canada team is the DPDM Multimount compact cylinder. This device is the company’s smallest, lightest, easiest-to-mount, and most economical cylinder of its class. It is the perfect pick for stopping or stabilizing small work pieces or work platforms in light manufacturing, along with other common applications for compact cylinders. The Multimount name refers to the way the user can mount the DPDM in various ways – at the front, at the rear, vertically, or horizontally.

All mounting interfaces are compatible

The DPDM is noticeably smaller that Festo’s very popular DMM compact cylinder. All of its mounting interfaces are perfectly compatible with those of the latter device, making the DPDM a suitable substitute for the DMM in certain applications. The DPDM’s shorter length translates into a lower product weight with identical functionality.

Available in both single- and double-acting models, the DPDM also comes in a variety of common diameters and stroke lengths, with or without protection against rotation. Another variant offers heat protection for temperatures up to 120 degrees Celsius, as well as a magnetic piston option for position sensing. Customers can request a model with a through piston rod for connections at both ends of the cylinder, or one with a hollow piston rod that can be used for carry vacuum or compressed air.

Other features and specifications of this inimitable compact cylinder:

  • Diameter of six, ten, 16, 20, 25, or 32 millimetres (mm);
  • Stroke length of five to 50 mm;
  • Force from nine to 483 Newtons;
  • Fixed cushioning;
  • Heat-resistant seals; and
  • Ability to attach to multiple accessories, including rod eyes, rod clevises, self-aligning rod couplers, adapters, proximity switches, one-way flow-control valves, and push-in fittings.

The DPDM is just the latest example of Festo’s genius for innovative automation solutions. This independent, family-owned company continues to meet the challenges of digitization and smart production for customers all over the world.
