Bergen Safety Cable is the safest, most cost-effective, easiest-to-install fastener retention system available. In fact, tests on engines at GE Aircraft Engine facilities have demonstrated that the use of Safety Cable results in a 50 per cent reduction in installation time, with consistently superior quality and lower assembly costs. It’s no surprise, then, that the Safety Cable has been a top choice by aerospace OEMs and MRO facilities across the globe since being developed by Bergen Cable and GE Aircraft Engines 30 years ago.

The system consists of:

  • The Safety Cable tool. This tool is available with a three-, five- or seven-inch nose length for .022-, .032- and .040-inch diameter cables. All Safety Cable tools come standard with 360-degree rotating noses, which allow for ease of use when operating in a non-standard position.
  • The Safety Cable. Bergen Safety Cables come in lengths ranging from nine to 24 inches, and in various materials, including 304 stainless steel, 321 stainless steel, Inconel 600 for high-temperature and non-magnetic applications, and Inconel 625 for superior corrosion resistance.
  • Safety Cable ferrules. These come in a spring-loaded magazine with 50 ferrules, which are available in the same materials and diameters as the Safety Cable. Elongated ferrules are also available to properly retain fasteners with limited clearance.
  • Safety Cable accessories. A range of accessories is also available. For example, a torque block enables periodic verification of tool settings, offering users a quick way to ensure correct tool operation. A precision torque wrench is also available for use with the torque block. Another optional accessory is the Bergen Cable cutter gripper tool, which is capable of safely and efficiently removing Safety Cable and lockwire. Finally, an electronic load tester is available for tension and ferrule pull-off tests.
