exhaust fans

N.R. Murphy's exhaust fans come with four different types of wheels.

N.R. Murphy is an internationally recognized manufacturer of high-quality industrial dust-collection equipment and other products that improve air quality in the workplace. Among these products is an impressive line of exhaust fans, which are essential to the process of making breathing easier and safer in industrial environments.

These exhaust fans come not only in a variety of designs, but also with four different wheel types. Each wheel is built for a specific level of air or material handling, depending on the application.

A range of sizes

Fan wheels from N.R. Murphy come in a wide range of sizes for differing needs. Wheel diameters range from 31 to 163 centimetres; circumferences go from 97 centimetres to five metres; and inlet diameters run from 17 to 94 centimetres. Outlet areas range from 0.265 to 7.41 square feet, while inlet areas go from 0.258 to 7.27 square feet.

Aiming for the highest standards possible, N.R. Murphy builds its own blades for fan wheels, designed and engineered to exacting specifications. This is just one of the ways that the company maintains its high level of “Murphy Quality”.

Whatever the client’s needs, N.R. Murphy has the fan wheel to suit them. The four wheel types available are as follows:

  • Wheel EH. An open wheel designed for almost every material-handling need, built out of extra-heavy steel plate to resist severe shock and abrasion in applications with high material volume. Suitable for handling air containing small wood blocks, knots, or paper trims with nose cones in their designs.
  • Wheel EHL. Similar to the EH design, but for standard industrial requirements for material handling.
  • Wheel EM-1. Also similar to EH, but slightly more efficient, plus a back plate and individual blade supports for extra strength and rigidity. The plate also prevents wood shavings from wrapping around the blades, as well as long, fibrous, or stringy material. Ideal for sawdust chips and similar items.
  • Wheel EA-1. The most efficient of the four designs, built to withstand extreme shock and abrasion in high-material-volume applications. Includes a backward-inclined, radial-tipped design with a coned shroud and back plate for added rigidity and strength. This controlled inlet clearance guides the air flow. Particularly good for handling relatively clean air efficiently and pulling air through filters and separators; not recommended for handling materials.
