extrusion of aluminum

Matritech has provided aluminum extrusion since 2016.

Matritech Inc. has been a key manufacturer of machine components for 30 years, serving such industries as road and railway transportation, the medical field, energy systems, and lighting equipment. The company offers many services, like laser cutting, stamping, assembly, robotic bending and welding, and extrusion of aluminum.

Responding to customer demand, Matritech added aluminum extrusion to its portfolio of capabilities three years ago – and has satisfied customers in a new way.

A needed industrial service

Extrusion of aluminum is a service much in demand in the industrial world these days. Manufacturing operations use aluminum frequently, due to its malleability: machinists find it easy to cast this type of metal into new shapes, and it becomes stable and strong when workers blend it with other materials.

Aluminum extrusion is a process for transforming aluminum alloy into objects with cross-sectional profiles. The technique consists of heating a billet of aluminum alloy and then transferring it to a loader and forcing it through a die into a container. The next step is to cool off the extruded part, straighten it, and harden it. The extrusions are cut to the required lengths and heated in ovens; this process hardens them by speeding up the aging process.

There are some notable competitive advantages to choosing extrusion of aluminum by Matritech. First, the company manufactures finished products efficiently by applying many of its services, including extrusion, under one roof at its Drummondville, Que. facility. In addition, Matritech uses standard machining processes and its own transformation options – like rapid punching, bending, forming, welding, or assembly – to achieve different production runs, from short to high-volume runs.
