Brave the blast: Linemaster’s explosion-proof foot switches step up in hazardous environments

Explosion-proof switches for medical and industrial use are available.

Linemaster Switch Corporation manufactures a selection of electric foot switches that no other company across the continent can match. This is why Linemaster makes a family of explosion-proof switches that share many common features and traits. Designed to operate and withstand abuse in challenging environments, these explosion-proof switches are available in two groups: one for the medical industry, and one for general industrial tasks.

Explosion-proof switches with single or twin pedals

Both versions include non-sparking aluminum housing and come in single- or twin-pedal models, to comply with varying customer needs. Two-pedal models have divider bars between the pedals to prevent accidental pressing of both simultaneously.

As the most robust explosion-proof switches available, Linemaster’s industrial line is available in six designs – three in the 500 series, three in the 600 series – and is very popular for applications that require durability in challenging conditions. Each model is constructed with an aluminum foot guard for added protection, with an integral base plate painted alert orange, as well as an integral handle for easy transport. Every unit also has a ¾-inch (14 NPT) threated rigid metal conduit entry and mounting provisions in the base plate.

Although the 500 industrial series is entirely splash-resistant, the 600 series also includes some waterproof models. The 500 line has an IP41 rating, while the 600 line has an IP68 rating.

The medical line of explosion-proof switches consists of aesthetically pleasing units, equipped with aluminum base plates with non-skid conductive rubber base pads, as well as integra handles. Linemaster manufacturers these black, high-quality models to be long-lasting and easy to manoeuvre, but they are also heavy enough to prevent their sliding around.

As the industrial line is, the series of medical foot switches is available in a 500 and 600 series, which have the identical respective IP ratings too. Each of these explosion-proof switches is pre-wired with potted mating connector MS3102R-18-4PW, with a strain-relief MS-3057-10 or 10A cable clamp. Each of the two-pedal switches is wired with an electrical interlock.
