EXAIR's Chip Trappers

EXAIR Corporation’s line of Chip Trappers provides a great way to clean coolant sumps, and these products are also safe and environmentally friendly. The trappers passed independent laboratory tests to qualify for the European Union’s Conformité Européene (CE) standard for health and safety.

A strict standard

The CE note of approval identifies products that comply with the essential requirements of relevant European health, safety, and environmental legislation. In some cases, obtaining a CE marking involves having a special notified body test the product’s conformity to safety standards. Although the marking refers to product use in Europe, CE is recognized worldwide as a sign of quality and safety.

EXAIR’s chip trappers have built-in pressure/vacuum relief and automatic safety shutoff valves to prevents spills or overfilling and ensure users’ safety. They are recommended for use on machines with sumps, parts washers, tanks, and storage containers, and regular use can extend the life of coolant from about six weeks to six months.

Different types

EXAIR manufactures the chip trapper vacuum system in 30 Gallon, 55 Gallon, and 110 Gallon sizes. The High Lift Chip Trapper, which pumps farther and higher, is also available in 30 Gallon, 55 Gallon, and 110 Gallon sizes.

The chip trapper works by vacuuming coolant or debris-filled liquid into the drum and trapping the solids into reusable filter bags, then pumping out clean liquid. These machines work with compressed air power, which eliminates the clogging and obsolescence that come with motors and impellers. Prices range from US$1,508 to US$2,331, depending on the size of the drum and the design.

Other features include a two-way pump assembly, a directional flow valve, a lever-lock drum lid, a shutoff valve, a vacuum hose, a compressed air hose, chip wand, two filter bags, and a drum dolly.
