Vortex tubes work with EXAIR Aircoolant systems.

No other manufacturer offers the breadth and variety of compressed-air equipment that EXAIR Corporation does. One popular category available from the company is a series of vortex tubes and other spot-cooling products, which can be used in EXAIR’s Cold Gun Aircoolant Systems. These tubes serve users as a low-cost, reliable, maintenance-free solution to a broad range of spot-cooling issues. They work with the Cold Gun system to produce a stream of clean, cold air at 28 degrees Celsius below supply air temperature.

With no moving parts

These tubes offer quiet operation, and they have no moving parts to wear out. They can remove heat to prolong tool life and to boost productivity on machining operations when users cannot apply liquid coolants. To prevent freeze-up during use, the Cold Gun system is non-adjustable.

Using an ordinary supply of compressed air as a power source, vortex tubes create two streams of air – one hot and one cold – without any moving parts. Users can easily adjust temperatures, flows, and cooling power over a wide range by using the control valve on the hot end exhaust – to achieve temperatures ranging from -46 to 127 degrees Celsius. The tubes are built out of wear-resistant stainless steel, which is perfect for corrosive and hygienic environments.

Vortex tubes are available from EXAIR in three sizes, each of which can create a number of flow rates as determined by a small internal part known as a generator. The user simply selects the appropriate vortex tube according to the specification information, if he or she knows the kilocalorie-per-hour requirements or the flow and temperature requirements.

Vortex-tube generators are interchangeable. For instance, if a Model 3215 tube does not offer enough cooling, the user needs only to switch generators within the vortex tube in order to upgrade the flow rate from 425, 708, 850, or 1,133 standard litres per minute.

EXAIR offers various accessories for these tubes. Examples include mufflers, O-rings, generators, valves, and taper sleeves.
