A faster, easier way

A sudden lack of coolant flow in a machining application has the potential to damage parts and expensive tooling. Machine tools often discharge some chips and shavings into the coolant sump. This can lead to maintenance downtime when the chips accumulate and mound up. The patented Chip Trapper can prevent this issue.

The Chip Trapper provides a faster, easier way to filter out chips and more. It vacuums the coolant or liquid filled with debris and traps all of the solids in a reusable filter bag, pumping only the liquid back out. EXAIR highly recommends this industrial vacuum on machines with sumps, parts washers, tanks, and storage containers holding contaminated fluid.

Each Chip Trapper comes with an EXAIR compressed-air-powered Reversible Drum Vac, which can fill or empty a 55-gallon drum in less than two minutes. The user merely sets the Reversible Drum Vac pump and directional-flow control valve on top of the drum to “fill” for it to vacuum the liquid with solids quickly. After the sump, pit, or tank is empty, the pump and directional valve should be set to “empty”; it will then pump out clean coolant/liquid. All the chips and other solids will be trapped in the reusable filter bag.

Other advantages of the Chip Trapper: its stainless steel pump has no impellers or motors to clog or wear out, and it has no electricity or shock hazard.
