The Cold Gun Aircoolant System by EXAIR

Heat buildup can be a problem on dry machining operations, shortening tool life and lowering machining rates. EXAIR Corporation has the perfect solution with the Cold Gun Aircoolant System, which produces a stream of clean cold air at 28 degrees Celsius below supply air temperature – a perfect substitute for costly mist systems. Right now, EXAIR is offering a free dual-point hose kit with every purchase of a Cold Gun system.

Quiet operation, no moving parts

Advantages of the Cold Gun system include quiet operation and no moving parts to wear out. It can remove heat to extend tool life while boosting productivity in machining operations when liquid coolants cannot be used. The system also eliminates the costs of buying and disposing of cutting fluids and worker-related health problems from breathing airborne coolants or slipping on wet floors. In addition, the Cold Gun Aircoolant System is non-adjustable, which prevents freeze-up during use.

The EXAIR Cold Gun Aircoolant System provides immediate cold air when the user supplies filtered compressed air to it. Clean, filtered air is essential to this system’s operation, and users can save air simply by cycling on and off. Each Cold Gun system comes with a filter separator that removes moisture, dirt, and other particulates from the compressed air. EXAIR also offers a High Power Cold Gun system, which produces double the airflow of the standard Cold Gun – resulting in twice the cooling power.

For an idea of what the Cold Gun system can do, check out the video at this link.

EXAIR recommends its dual-point hose kit for applications in which heat is generated over a larger surface area, such as band sawing, milling, chill rolls, and hot melt adhesives. Variations include cone and flat fan nozzles for aiming the cold airflow. Two general models are available: the Model 5902 for the Cold Gun system, approximately 11 inches long, and the Model 5905 for the Mini Cooler, which is about six inches long.
