The Parker ETH electric cylinder

Parker manufactures many innovative industrial solutions that are available in Canada through Wainbee Limited. For example, the manufacturer has recently launched their next generation family of rod-style electric cylinders called the ETH. The ETH is not a repackage of the popular ET series, but a completely re-engineered product, which offers extremely high force density compared to traditional ball screw designs.

The Parker ETH series uses a proprietary ball screw design; this optimized ball screw technology allows for smooth operation and repeatability. Accessories with integrated force sensors help to spread and even to control forces precisely.

Recognized as a market leader

Parker’s ETH electric cylinders close the gap between pneumatic and hydraulic actuators and can be a suitable replacement in many applications. Considering the costs of air and oil, an electromechanical system like the ETH cylinder offers the more economical solution in most cases. Because of its high shock and vibration resistance, high long-term stability, small temperature drift, good repeatability, and traction/thrust forces of up to 25 kilonewtons, this series from Wainbee is already recognized as a market leader.

Typical applications for these electric cylinders include Test Equipment & Laboratory, Valve and Flap Actuation, Pressing, Packaging Machinery, Food and Beverage Processing, Material Handling, and Feed Systems.

Other features and benefits of the ETH series:

  • Three profile sizes
  • Oversized ball screws and thrust bearings
  • Four-to-five times higher force, or ten times longer life
  • Maximum thrust of 7,000 newtons
  • Maximum stroke of 1.6 metres
  • Maximum speed of 1.7 metres per second
  • 100 per cent duty cycle
  • IP65, IP67, and custom IP69K capabilities
  • Stainless steel capabilities
  • Optional linear motor version
  • Safe handling and simple cleaning
  • High service life
  • Minimal maintenance costs
  • Less noise emission

Parker also offers customized solutions for applications that require a special version of the ETH cylinder. Options include customized mountings and rod ends, mounting of customer motors, preparation of cylinders for aggressive environmental conditions, and overlong, polished, or hard-chrome-plated thrust rods.
