The robust Picomag housing, made of stainless steel (IP65/67), is available in two designs. Left: DN 15 (½") G thread, DN 20 (¾"), DN 25 (1"); right: DN 50 (2") NPT.

To meet the rising demand in process measurement and automation for simple, dependable, and maintenance-free measurement instrumentation in a pocket-sized format, Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. has developed the Picomag electromagnetic flow meter. This plug-and-play device is the ultimate choice for measuring flow, process temperature, and conductivity in electrically conductive liquids.

The Picomag provides easy commissioning with Bluetooth, and its seamless system integration via onboard IO-Link connectivity makes it ready for Industry 4.0.

With large, user-friendly display

Perfect for quantity measurement or process monitoring of cooling, warm, or process water, the Picomag has a compact design that enables installation into any pipe up to 50 millimetres in diameter, even in confined spaces. This is a cost-optimized solution for tasks with a priority on high repeatability, such as measuring water flow accurately or minimizing energy expenses in utility applications. With robust, stainless steel housing, the Picomag works for process temperatures from ten to 85 degrees Celsius and for process pressures up to 232 pounds per square inch. Users can mount it directly before or after a pipe bend, as it requires no inlet and outlet runs.

The instrument has a large, user-friendly display that allows for fast, easy reading of flow, temperature, conductivity, and totalizer values. The Picomag displays errors occurring during operations (for example, a partial pipe filling or an exceeded temperature limit) through diagnostic symbols according to NAMUR recommendation NE107. The Bluetooth connection makes it possible to conduct wireless configuration or data retrieval over a distance of ten metres, even at installation sites that are hard to access.

For quick navigation through all device and diagnostic functions, Endress+Hauser provides the free SmartBlue app. Users can save device configurations to upload to another Picomag instrument, which saves time during commissioning. They can also export these configurations as a PDF file, and store it on or forward to to a mobile device, for archiving purposes. Digital data transmission to process-control systems through IO-Link technology works with all fieldbus systems and provides top installation flexibility into existing system infrastructures, so users can access comprehensive information through the control room.
