With Endress+Hauser’s 0 x DN full bore option, flow meters can be installed in tight spaces, such as compact systems or skids, because they do not need any inlet or outlet runs.

Initially launched for the Promag W family of electromagnetic sensors for water/wastewater applications, the pioneering 0 x DN full-bore option from Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. is now available for additional flow-measuring tasks. Customers can order this option with Promag P sensors for chemical and process applications with corrosive fluids or extremely high medium temperatures, and it can be used for tough tasks with line sizes from 25 millimetres to 2.4 metres.

New design, Bluetooth connectivity

In addition, this full-bore option is compatible with the new Promag 10 transmitter and the established Promag 300/400/500 series, with its new design, touchscreen controls, and Bluetooth connectivity. The Promag W and P models comply with IP67 and NEMA6 standards for permanent or temporary submergence for up to ten days.

These electromagnetic flow meters provide greater flexibility for users with the full-bore option in upgrading or designing process systems. This option delivers high measurement accuracy with no measuring of tube restriction, regardless of the flow profile or mounting location. Since they do not require any inlet or outlet runs, these enhanced flow meters are perfect for installation in compact systems, skids, and other confined spaces.

Plant operators typically have to compensate for flow disturbance by adopting the recommended inlet and outlet runs or using a flow-measuring instrument with a restricted measuring tube. But sufficiently long straight pipe sections might not be at hand for the first option, and tube restrictions result in pressure losses that frequently lead to higher energy consumption for pump operations and greater energy expenses.

The full-bore option allows these flow meters to have multiple measuring electrodes to detect flow abnormalities that may affect accuracy. This generates a significantly higher density of measured information than typical devices offer; the measurements are not distorted by frequent swirls due to influences like a close-knit pipeline network, or to obstacles like pipe bends and insertion devices or buildup on the pipe wall, protruding seals, or different interior diameters.

Endress+Hauser is showcasing its advanced flow meters his week at Alberta Water and Wastewater Operations Association’s 47th Annual Operators Seminar in Banff, Alta.
