Gorbel Work Station Crane products helped a gas company improve its work environment.

Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment (ELS) is more than a provider of top lifting equipment for industrial applications. The ELS team actively assists customers with choosing the best solutions for their needs.

For example, an Ontario natural-gas supply company needed to upgrade its crane equipment. They turned to ELS.

Rebuilding pumps and meters

The company was building a larger facility to accommodate an expanded workshop for rebuilding pumps and meters. In the old workshop, workers had to handle pumps and meters manually with chain falls and forklifts. This process was not only slow and difficult, but also dangerous. The new facility became an opportunity to invest in better lifting equipment.

ELS worked with the contractor to design a building structure which would accommodate the load factors of the ceiling mounted bridge crane and monorail beam. ELS also sourced Gorbel Work Station Crane products as well as assisted with the plant layout to ensure the cranes were properly positioned for optimal work flow.

Several new pieces of lifting equipment were installed throughout the workspace. ELS installed a ceiling-mounted Gorbel bridge crane with two bridges in the receiving area. This crane had a 500-pound capacity and each bridge was equipped with a G-Force Intelligent Lifting Device. Each end of the crane was outfitted with 165-pound-capacity Easy Arms to move individual parts from pallets to a conveyor. In the paint booth area, a 250-pound ceiling-mounted monorail and air-powered chain hoist were installed. In another area, ELS also installed a WSJ360 jib crane for 360-degree overhead lifting as well as two Easy Arm jib cranes for pick and place applications.

As a result of ELS’ expertise, the gas company’s current facility has an unobstructed floor, because no support columns are needed. With G-Force and East Arm products, operators lift and transport pumps and meters easily and safely.
