ELS has a lengthy track record of helping customers find the perfect solutions for their individual needs.

Engineering Lifting Systems & Equipment (ELS) has developed solid relationships with many Canadian customers for whom it has provided world-class lifting products. This is because the company works closely with clients to arrange the best solution for their specific applications. For example, a global market leader in drive technology turned to ELS for new steerable transfer carts to assist with a product relocation during production. As always, ELS went above and beyond the customer’s goals.

Ongoing costs as a factor

This drive-technology firm was expanding its Canadian manufacturing business with a power-transmission product line that it was relocating from another location. So it needed equipment that could carry assemblies weighing about 7,500 pounds through a multi-stage build process and then ship the finished products to end users across the country. The company had used electric powered carts for these assemblies, strapped onto wooden skids, at its other manufacturing location, but the skids were in danger of breaking, which made ongoing costs a concern.

The company put its trust in ELS, which proposed two options following discussion, a budget review, and evaluation of the overall scope of the customer’s needs. First, ELS recommended using two battery-powered steerable transfer carts to move the assemblies through the initial build process. The second choice was to move a fleet of towed skid carts with a powered Tugger, an efficient solution for moving products through the final build and testing process and for shipping products to end users.

After evaluating these two recommendations, the drive-technology company decided that the best solution would be to use two powered steerable transfer carts equipped with scissor lift tables to move products in the initial build stage. For the final build and testing process, the customer realized that the second option – the towed skid carts with Tuggers – was a better fit and suited their budget more. The skid carts were also the ideal choice for product shipment to customers.

In the end, the company bought two transfer carts and multiple towed skid carts – and they all worked out perfectly.
