ELS can design, build, and certify custom lifting beams for clients

Lifting beams, both standard and custom designs, sourced from Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment Inc. (ELS) are below-the-crane-hook engineered lifting solutions for manufacturing facilities, construction sites, power plants, municipal organizations, and transportation services. Lifting beams differ from spreader beams, as they require less headroom, and are designed to handle the bending and twisting loads applied during the lift.

When a standard lifting beam is not suitable, ELS will design, fabricate, and certify a custom lifting beam to suit the project requirement. For example, a global distribution company looked to ELS to lift heavy, irregularly shaped, 5,000-kilogram motor gearbox assemblies, so as not to crush the component parts and hosing. ELS accepted this challenge and designed and fabricated a low-headroom custom lifting beam to suit the client’s operation.

Using 3D analysis, the ELS design-engineering team determined the center of gravity of the motor gearbox, then designed a 6.3-foot-long lifting beam, with a primary crane hook attachment point off-set to one end. The off-set was needed so that when loaded with the assembly, the beam would remain level. The beam had a secondary crane hook attachment for handling the unloaded beam. The assembly was attached to the lifting beam with lifting lugs, so that no chains or slings were required. ELS has fabricated and built multiple versions of this lifting beam for their own use, as well as other customers, who require heavy products to be lifted quickly and safely.
