ELS brings ergonomic handling to palletizing operation

The warehouse of an international specialty cheese supplier needed a palletizing solution to optimize its order building process. The company was looking for an ergonomic solution that would allow one operator to efficiently handle the task. It turned to Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment (ELS) for the solution.

The challenge

Palletized boxes were removed from racking using fork trucks, and then transported to a central work area for order building. The order building process required picking from multiple pallets of product onto empty pallets according to shipping orders. However, workers were manually handling the boxes, which each weighed 88 pounds — beyond the recommended manual lifting guidelines. A more ergonomic solution was required to reduce the risk of injury.

The solution

With the help of the knowledgeable team at ELS, the customer chose a freestanding Gorbel workstation crane with an Anver Vacuum Tube. The installed modular floor-mounted workstation crane was engineered for the warehouse layout, offering correct load positioning while not requiring any sway bracing. The bridge-mounted two-pad Anver Vacuum Tube Lifter with fixed control handle provides lifting coverage of 17 feet by 28 feet, allowing one operator to palletize in an efficient and ergonomic manner.
