The HBM eDrive power analyzer

HBM Test and Measurement products are available through Durham Instruments. For example, the eDrive power analyzer is a revolutionary solution for testing electrical drives, inverters, machines, and power trains. This device acquires mechanical data and electrical signals at the same time, a major advantage for drive optimization and efficiency. With the help of the eDrive, users can better understand an electric drive and its losses in mere minutes.

For motor testing, electrification

A versatile instrument, this power analyzer is ideal for many important applications, especially motor testing and electrification. It is also suitable for measurement channels for electrical and mechanical values, simultaneous sampling of all signals and storage in a data file, and power analysis, with acquisition of raw information per set point or continuous storage for startup tests. The eDrive functions with accelerometer, temperature, and CAN inputs. Durham Instruments recommends this product for the general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, medical, military, power-generation, alternative-energy, or transportation sectors or for research and development.

The eDrive provides unique data-acquisition and -analysis capabilities in addition to power measurement, unlike standard power analyzers. It offers simple measurement setup, as an integrated system instead of a blend of various units. HBM modular power analyzers are recommended for any electrification test for three-phase and multi-channel tasks, such as six-phase machines and hybrid or multi-motor drives.

This instrument has two main aspects – a high-accuracy power analyzer and a high-performance data-acquisition system. The former measures and calculates electric signals and power in real time on up to 51 channels, plus mechanical power with up to six torque/speed signals and a typical base power accuracy of 0.02 per cent. The latter provides synchronous, constant recording of electrical signals, torque, speed, temperature, acceleration, and CANbus, plus real-time or post-process analyses for result verification, mappings, or advanced analysis such as NVH and electrical correlations.

Easy to expand beyond three phases, the eDrive has user formulas for adaptation to special applications, such as multi-level inverters. Watch this video for a better look:
