The eXRCPU module, one of HBM's eDAQXR family of mobile data processors

First-rate measurement devices are a staple of HBM Test and Measurement. This manufacturer, whose products are available from Durham Instruments, makes tools for the next generation of users – such as its eDAQXR family of mobile data processors, its line of world-class, rugged data-acquisition modules.

With more computing power than HBM’s eDAQ systems, this group of data processors is useful for many applications. Durham Instruments recommends them for use in several industries, including general manufacturing, aerospace, the military, mining, transportation, and research and development.

Better data throughput and networking

The eDAQXR group includes the eXRCPU module, which offers strong improvements in data throughput, support for seamless networking, and a state-of-the-art online interface. The system includes a main processor layer that enables flexible configurations for many different tasks.

The secure Internet interface on the eXRCPU allows for simpler test setup, control, monitoring, and data-visualization interfaces. A server-based interface, it supports multiple users and can define and apply system access and control restrictions on a per-user basis. The module also communicates through standard 100/1,000 Base-T Ethernet, with IPv4 or IPv6.

The eXRCPU can also perform a variety of on-board data processing to manage test information. For example, it has a diverse set of computed channels for defining triggers and gates for Somat DataModes. It also supports arbitrarily complex mathematical computations.

Special features of these HBM data processors include the following:

  • Wide-range input power from eight to 36 volts, turning on at ten volts and running down to eight volts;
  • Internal backup capacitors that prevent unplanned power losses or low-voltage incidents;
  • One-gigabit Ethernet port for host PC connection;
  • Two PTP ports for expansion and networking;
  • Ability to withstand temperatures from -40 to 80 degrees Celsius;
  • Memory of 32 gigabytes, with optional upgrade to 64 gigabytes;
  • Multiple ports – three CAN, three Ethernet, and one GPS; and
  • Control IO, USB, and remote switch.

The eXRCPU system also supports a default “data collect” mode and onboard data sourcing from its multiple ports.

For the future in data processing, rely on the eDAQXR line.
