The Dynasonics DXN portable hybrid ultrasonic flow meter by Badger Meter

Badger Meter test and measurement devices are available in Canada through Durham Instruments, including those under the Dynasonics brand name. A powerful tool for troubleshooting flow issues is the Dynasonics DXN portable hybrid ultrasonic flow meter. It is ideal for users who want fast verification of other meters’ flow readings or data logging of flow-system values over extended periods. This product is a true hybrid instrument that can measure liquid flow with multiple technologies.

No tapping or cutting required

Durham Instruments recommends this versatile ultrasonic flow meter for use in numerous industries, such as general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.

A key feature is transducers that clamp onto the outside of the pipe with no tapping or cutting required. The user can easily move and install the Dynasonics DXN portable meter in different locations. Its large colour display makes it easy to read, and the setup wizard walks users through all meter configuration steps. Other major features:

  • Transit time, Doppler measurement, and liquid thermal (heat energy) flow;
  • Touchscreen with job-specific controls;
  • USB port for transferring data-log files in .csv format;
  • Modbus TCP/IP connectivity;
  • Multiple graphing options and advanced diagnostics; and
  • Battery- or line-powered options.

The Dynasonics DXN ultrasonic flow meter can measure a broad variety of liquids and capture multiple variables over several days. The user can view and archive data-log files on any computer. Flow is measured with non-invasive ultrasonic sensors. The instrument is compatible with a pipe-wall thickness gauge, and users can verify inner pipe diameter to ensure accurate ultrasonic measurements when piping specifics are unavailable.

With this device’s features, technicians can easily obtain accurate readings while capturing flow surges and high-speed batch operations. The Dynasonics DXN captures and displays multiple user-defined and applications parameters at once and can record the information with a user-friendly data-logging function. This capability of monitoring and recording several parameters at the same time enables technicians to verify and troubleshoot permanent flow installations easily.
