The Universal Drum Mount (UDM) by Dynamix

York Fluid Controls supplies the most innovative pumping solutions available in Canada – including products by Dynamix Agitators Inc. From heavy-duty industrial mixers to a more economical drum-mixer line, Dynamix produces a plentiful array of units with its ample expertise. The Universal Drum Mount, or UDM, is a unique, small drum mixer that improves mixing in closed-head drums while mounting to open-head ones too.

Two mounts in one

Part of the Dynamix MMX 1000 series, the Universal Drum Mount combines the abilities of two kinds of mounts in one. The drum bung mount is designed for a closed-head drum with a two-inch NPT port; recommended for light-viscosity mixing, this drum mixer is screw-mounted into the port and completely encloses the drum. Dynamix’ drum bung mounts each have a four-bladed collapsible impeller design – also integrated into the UDM – that was developed to allow greater mixing in closed-head drums; dual- and triple-impeller options are also available.

The UDM can also function as a drum lid mount, which is better suited for medium-to-high viscosity. A Dynamix drum lid mount comes with a full range of motor and impeller options that are configurable to address mixing challenges like high viscosities, solid suspension, and shear. Each has a handle with lifting slots for manual or hoist lifting. York Fluid Controls also offers UDMs and drum lid mounts with dual or triple impellers.

Motors for the UDM drum mixer have a power range from ¼ to one horsepower, with air, electric, variable-speed, and explosion-proof options available. Other configuration options: direct gear reduction of 5:1, 10:1, and 21:1, with low RPM mixing with substantial torque available; multiple mounting options for both kinds of drums; and fixed or collapsible impellers.

Another key benefit of the UDM is that its shaft angles into the drum, which results in more space for the larger impellers. In addition, its small size enables versatility and portability, so that workers can use it on different drums and tanks in different parts of a facility. Standard MMX offerings come in different configurations and dimensions to suit individual needs.
